African Palms USA is an outreach ministry of St. John's Episcopal Church which turns a simple palm cross into a source of income and humanitarian aid for communities in East Africa. This unique overseas mission project was founded by the Women of St. John's in 1976. Palm crosses and palm totes are made in a small village in Tanzania, shipped to St. John's where they are checked and packaged by volunteers, then sold to other churches and church supply organizations throughout the US. Most of the proceeds and all donations received are awarded in non-denominational micro-economic self-help grants to organizations and communities in Africa.
The palm crosses are made throughout the year in villages near Masasi, Tanzania in East Africa. We also offer hand woven totes made from the palm leaves. From the proceeds of the sale of the palm crosses and totes as well as 100% of all donations received, African Palms awards grants to community projects throughout Africa based on economic and social infrastructure need. The crosses and totes are shipped throughout the year. We welcome donations anytime.
African Palms distributes and provides palm crosses to churches, schools, hospitals, prisons, book stores, and church goods distributors for use on Palm Sunday and other special occasions.
